“A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.” (Proverbs 18:2)
“He who answers before listening – that is his folly and his shame.” (Proverbs 18:13)
I’m reading Proverbs 18 this morning, and was struck by verses 2 & 13. How many times have I seen parents lecturing their children without taking the time to understand the situation and understand their children? How many times have I done it myself, only to regret it minutes later when I realized the situation was not as I first thought? Let’s not be foolish moms. May God give us grace to listen and understand first, then discipline wisely based on knowledge.
